The Premier League Season looks set to be a cracker, as Chelsea and City are now looking over their shoulder at a resurgent Manchester United!!
United have been quietly going about their business, picking up points all over the country, and this week hosted Liverpool in a massive fixture on Super Sunday.
Liverpool were in disarray however did have many fine shots stopped well, but it was United and Van Persie that destroyed Liverpool's' afternoon with a convincing 3-0 win to put Untied into 3rd position and ensure a champions league place is now within reach. Liverpool on the other hand slip further down the table and Rodgers is under massive pressure after spending over $100 million on new players this season.
Sunday's other match gave Spurs a great chance to jump up to 7th on the table and they took full advantage in a tough test away in Wales as they visited Swansea City. Spurs have been struggling for consistency again this season, but were fantastic with Kane opening the scoring before Bony put Swansea on level terms. However after the break it was Eriksen late on, who stole the show with a winner in the 89th minute to ensure Spurs are still in touch with the European places.
Saturday saw a host of fixtures with no early kick off's this week. The late kick off was a thrilling encounter at the Emirates with Arsenal needing a win after a poor set of results in the league. The gunners were rewarded with an assault as they strolled to a 4-1 victory in front of an expectant crowd against Newcastle who have come off a fantastic run of results.
Other matches saw West Brom win the local Midlands derby with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at the Hawthorns.
Chelsea strolled to a 2-0 win over Hull City at Stanford Bridge whilst Manchester City won 1-0 away at newly promoted Leicester City.
Crystal Palace and Stoke City shared the spoils in London, as did Sunderland and West Ham as they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw.
Burnley stole the points at home to Southampton to round out the results with a 1-0 win to take them out of the relegation positions for the first time this season!
