This puts United 13 points behind leaders Arsenal and 7 points off the Champions League pace. Chelsea and Manchester City both suffered shock results on the weekend after coming off promising midweek results. Chelsea travelled to Stoke where a last minute wonder strike sealed all 3 points for Mark Hughes Stoke City to give the midlands club a much needed 3 points.
Meanwhile Manchester City travelled south to Southampton but could only muster up a draw after a fantastic late equaliser for Southampton.
Saturday's other fixtures saw Spurs come from behind to defeat Sunderland 2-1 at the stadium of light, whilst Crystal Palace took all 3 points at home to secure their move up the table and equal on points just inside the relegation zone. Palace took 6 points over the 2 matches and now believes the great escape is possible under new manager Pulis.
Liverpool were again too strong, this time for lowly placed West Ham. Liverpool are explosive at the moment and look like scoring whenever they go forward. Liverpool are up to 2nd in the table and only their small squad could stand in the way of European football next season. The only other fixture this weekend was a 2-0 win for Norwich at West Brom.
