I believe in the power of medical science. I have had nearly every vaccine you can possibly have. I get the flu shot every year, I went to Nepal in 2015 and had my shots to protect me from Himalayan diseases.
After careful research and consultation with my GP I decided to get vaccinated with AstraZeneca despite the recommendations of my age group taking Pfizer. Pfizer was unavailable in my area I wanted to be part of the solution and if it meant getting AstraZeneca meant I could be vaccinated as soon as possible then I felt the pros outweighed the cons.
The thing was I made a careful choice, by analysing the evidence before me, speaking to my GP, I made what I felt was the best outcome for my health and the health of others without any form of coercion.
We must protect that power of choice
As Christians it is our choices of allowing the Spirit of God to work within us that needs to be protected. It’s that connection people have with their God that is the basis for their life. The Government has absolutely no right to dictate any medical procedure.
I know people who have very legitimate reasons to not take the vaccine. I know a woman with an autoimmune disease, a history of clotting who was told by her Doctor to not take the Vaccine. I know another woman who has never put any chemicals into her body and is one of the healthiest people I know, she has a very healthy diet, full of vitamins and making right health choices. She does not want to take the vaccine on that principle and her choice should be respected.
Others I know have had a history of seizures from Vaccines why should they forced to take the vaccine just so they can come to Church?
A house divided will fall
I was absolutely disgusted with the so called “roadmap to freedom” The New South Wales Government has introduced
In certain instances then yes I do believe there are certain activities that only vaccinated people should be allowed to do, such as travel overseas or sit in a plane but in no circumstance should the Church be forced to only admit vaccinated people.
The Apostle Paul said “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love?” (Romans 8:35), he did not say ‘not having a Covid Jab will separate you from the love of God.’ He then said later in the chapter in verse 38. “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love . Neither death nor life, neither, angels nor demons,” I cannot see anything about vaccination status in that verse.
What about the lepers Jesus touched by breaking cultural taboos at the time?
The roadmap will divide our society, a house divided will fall as Christians we must speak out against Vaccine Passports in churches and the segregation in our society, I thought we outlawed and now the devil is trying to bring it back in. It is contrary to the message of the cross that anyone regardless of what you have done can come to Jesus.
Then there is he state deciding who can come into your home and who cannot. According to the roadmap, you may only have 5 people in your home when the State reaches 70% double vaccinated unless everyone coming into your home has been vaccinated.
So basically we have to check everyone’s vaccination status when they come to our home.
The State has crossed the line
There are many Covid regulations my church has been forced to follow that I do not agree with, but I have always advocated to honour the authorities despite my personal feelings about how they are telling Churches to act in this pandemic.
I believe that as Christians we should always honour the authorities unless it interferes with the law of God. Well this is a situation where this has occurred. Telling unvaccinated people they cannot gather in our Church is a direct interference in our walk and how we show Christ’s love to one another.
I respect the advice of our health officials but they have gone beyond their calling. They are called to advise us and the Government in our best health response, they are certainly not called to dicatate and interfere with a spiritual walk with God and one another.
We have faith in God not the New South Wales Health Department. Let’s put God in his rightful place and listen to him in our response.
