A 'God Loves Gays' billboard has been put up in the US city of Topeka, Kansas - hometown to the controversial Westboro Baptist Church group.
The billboard is presumed to be the first of many following the success of the Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign, which has now raised almost double the initial target of US$50,000 to fund the ad space.
"God is tired of having hate-speech put into his mouth by bigots," the project creators wrote. "The world needs to know that God loves gay people."
In a promotional video for the campaign, a cartoon 'God' angrily slams the church as a group of "psychos".
"This hate group goes around saying that God hates gay people. Nonsense! I love gay people," the figure says. "The time has come for God to fight back - with love."
The Westboro Baptist church is infamous for its 'God Hates Fags' slogan and protests at military funerals. They recently announced plans to picket the funerals of Joan Rivers and Robin Williams.
