25,000 Make Poverty History Postcards And Emails Delivered to Government

On the 7th September 2005 twenty five thousands Make Poverty History postcards and emails signed by the Australian public were delivered by three primary school students representing three aid and development organisations to Bruce Bilson the Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Secretary at Parliament House in Canberra. These postcards and emails were part of the Make Poverty History campaign to push the federal government to increase its aid contribution..

    On the 31st August 2005 Auxiliary bishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher is calling on all volunteers from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games to help make the World Youth Day in Sydney a success where the volunteer will have a similar role to those volunteers working in the World Youth Day held in Cologne this year which numbered 20,000 where their duties include: serving meals, act as ushers and drivers, man ticket gates, help register pilgrims and prepare liturgies.
