Apple Inc. has taken over a Seattle-based artificial intelligence (AI) start-up, Turi, a machine learning company. The tech giant bought the start-up for around $200 million.
The newly acquired startup, founded by University of Washington's Prof. Carlos Guestrin, specializes in offering graph processing frameworks and tools for other developer companies to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning into their apps and services, one of which helps developers to manufacture more enhanced fraud detection into their apps.
Apple has reportedly invested enormous amounts into artificial intelligence in past few years, especially by means of purchasing new technologies.
Last year, the tech giant bought Perceptio and VocalIQ, and signed a successful acquisition deal with a Swiss machine vision animation company, Faceshift.
Earlier this month, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the company has been focussing on AI technology in order to provide features offering users the best and enhanced experience.
"We are also utilising machine learning in a lot of other ways in a majority of the products and services including suggesting apps, news, and songs," Cook added.
The tech giant has confirmed the acquisition to Geekwire, saying that Apple purchases smaller technology businesses every now and then.
