With tech giant Apple doing away with the standard 3.5mm headphone jack in its upcoming iPhone, it has been reported that the company is instead working on a pair of wireless earphones based on a customised low-power Bluetooth technology chip.
AppleInsider reported that an unnamed product has been in progress for "few years" and the company might at last launch the device in September.
If reports prove to be true, then Apple's earbuds might just make it feasible for the device to be a less-power-consuming device by adopting technology from Passif Semiconductor, an expert manufacturer in power-efficient chipsets, which Apple acquired three years ago.
If the wireless earplugs are a reality for Apple with Bluetooth and WiFi tech, then the tech giant is all set to get another device in its patent lists. Although, all the processes are going on inside the Apple labs, so the technology is yet to come out in the market.
Apple is likely to unveil a pair of latest iPhone handsets at a special event this month, with rumors pegging the first appearance in the first week of September.
Contrasting with past iPhone product timings, in 2016, Apple is believed to carry over the design language introduced in 2014 with iPhone 6 device.
