It seems Facebook's attempts to stop ad blockers has failed, as one of the best-known tools Adblock Plus (ABP) claimed that it has found a way to block the social networking site's ads.
Earlier this week, Facebook had implemented an 'ad blocker-proof' format to sneak ads past ad-blocking software when users visited the site. However, ABP swiftly announced an updated version of Adblock Plus will be again be able to avoid ads in Facebook's News Feed and sidebar.
Facebook countered ABP saying that the ad blocker method may might be flawed, as, in its effort to remove advertisements, Adblock Plus is removing regular posts as well.
A Facebook spokesperson said that they are disappointed as ad blocking firms are punishing users on Facebook as these fresh efforts dn not just block ads, but also posts from friends and Pages. Facebook also confirmed that they are planning to solve the issue, as it is not a good experience for people.
As Facebook is gearing up for a fight against ad-blocking, Adblock Plus has already prepared itself for the battle.
Adblock Plus' Ben Williams has written a blog post saying, "the tussle between circumventers and the ad-blocking community is very old, so it is very likely that Facebook will try some sort of codes that will make the filter useless at any time."
Williams also said that if such a thing happens, when the filter gets ineffective, then the ad-blocking community will also find some other way to block ads.
On Tuesday, Facebook asserted that it felt at ease circumventing ad blockers since its ads were not frustrating and it was offering users improved control over what types of ads users would like to see.
