The space combat action-adventure survival video game, No Man's Sky developed by Hello Games, has rolled out its first update today.
The developers announced that since the update is a zero-day upgradation, gamers will lose all their saved data. However, the first patch will have almost an entire restructuring of the game including a ten-time bigger universe in the gameplay and three paths players can follow.
'No Man's Sky' designer Sean Murray said that anyone who played the game prior to installing the first patch will need to delete their saved data. Murray also mentioned that although the game will carry on to function without the patch, players will "not be able to experience the new content" if they do not install the update. In addition, the loophole, which allowed early players to finish the game in nearly 30 hours, has been taken out.
Murray also assured fans that following the game's PS4 launch today, and PC on August 12, such an update or overhaul would not happen again in future.
The game designer and founder said the servers had been wiped on Sunday ahead of the patch update's availability.
The latest Update 1.03 includes:
- The Three Paths – New and unique "paths" you can follow throughout the game. T
- The Universe – Rules of the universe generation algorithm have been changed. Planets have shifted, changed environments, and Galaxies are up to 10-times larger.
