100 torturous days have passed for the McCann parents' whose daughter, Madeline McCann, sparked an international search for her as they attended a special church service to mark this sad occasion.
Attending a special church service in Praia da Luz, Portugal both Gerry and Kate McCann took their twins to the service. Sky News reported that the readings, hymns and prayers were all especially chosen with the theme of children in mind.
Back in the U.K., a quiet vigil was also held for families and friends of the McCann where prayers were made and candles were lit for Madeline at the Sacred Heart Church in Rothley.
Father Haynes Hubbard who led the service in Portugal told the BBC it must 'devastating' for Madeline's parents who had to live through it; minute to minute, dad by day, hour by hour.
"Minute to minute, day by day, hour by hour, it's up and down. It's almost shattering to watch and it must be devastating to live," he said.
The sad milestone comes as the Portuguese police for the first time acknowledged to the BBC that the missing British 4-year-old girl might be dead.
