Ellel Ministries is a non-denomination Christian mission organisation started by Peter Horrobin with a vision (found in Luke 9:11) to: “Resource and equip the church by welcoming people, teaching them about the Kingdom of God and healing those in need.”
Director Horrobin stressed the importance of the Quiver conference especially to the youth of the nation stating: “Quiver aims to communicate the heart of our teaching to a generation that is growing up without moral boundaries. Investing in today’s youth equips tomorrow leaders.”
The conference started at 10am and finished at 6:00pm was packed with the Word of God delivered by speakers who injected a sense of humour and realism to illustrate the life of Jesus Christ was not only historical but was still alive in all believers today.
The messages delivered by the speakers stressed the importance that we ourselves were made up of three interconnecting parts which were body, soul and spirit. In His image God created us with a living spirit. Through the spirit God communicates with us. This demonstrates that we as humans are God’s most important creation. The speakers reiterated it was only through Jesus Christ that we could gain salvation.
Paul Watson a former Anglican priest for 14 years and the director of Ellel Ministries in Australia gave a brief summary of the Christian faith through the foundation lecture. During the session Paul invited participants to take the initiative to accept Christ in their life. It was reported that after the conference concluded several participants through their testimonies had made this commitment.
Afterwards Director Paul delivered the message of forgiveness. Using a chain and a lock Paul illustrated when you did not forgive you were carrying this burden and hurt wherever you went regardless of the time duration. By forgiving you were breaking free from the chain and a new spiritual path opened up.
The next speaker was Diane Watson, the Centre Director of Ellel’s Sydney ministry (based in Gilbulla) who taught us about the human spirit. The human spirit she explained was fragile so it could easily be damaged and defiled through occult sin. This sin arises either through generational iniquity (Physical ancestors who committed the sins) or personal involvement in occult activities. She warned of the dangers of watching media programs with occult activities stating such acts are detestable to God (found in Deuteronomy 18:9-13).
The final speaker was Paul Ryan who delivered a message emphasizing the importance of Jesus as our spiritual doctor. A doctor could heal us of our physical pain and injury but we are made up of three parts. So only one part would be healed but the other parts would still be suffering. Jesus is the only one who heals our spirit and through Him we can gain eternal comfort. It is important to note Paul did not underestimate the role of the physicians or the tremendous work they perform rather he was pointing out that some pains go beyond the physical realm.
The touching moments in the conference were the personal prayer counselling. This occurred after each message was delivered where the speakers encouraged the participants to go and talk to leaders and prayed together. It was very moving where some participants truly opened themselves thus enabling them to remove the ‘rocks in their hearts.’
