The latest Hillsong United album, 'All of the Above' has debuted at the number one spot in three U.S. Billboard Christian charts, and has hit number six on the ARIA charts here in Australia.
'All of the Above' has been described in the Hillsong press release as, "An album that captures the impassioned sound of a generation which is being caught by wide audiences both locally and internationally." The eighth album and the first-ever studio recording for Hillsong United, is now number one in the Billboard Contemporary Christian Album chart, top Praise and Worship Album and the Digital Christian/Gospel Album chart. It has also entered at number 60 on the Billboard's Top 200 Chart.
United's Creative Director, Joel Houston, one of the key worship leaders and songwriters, believes the success of the album and United's music more generally can be attributed to the fact that its more than a few good songs on an album.
"The album captures who we are and what we're about. It's about a selfless faith, the call to love, the pursuit of justice, helping others, the hope and freedom we have in Christ and the truth of the Gospel in a world that is searching," Mr. Houston said.
He goes on saying that, "Our hope is that it will stir up a generation both locally and globally to live lives that are sold out for God, lives that are committed to bringing justice to the hurting and the broken and answers through the hope in Jesus."
Last month United was also awarded an International Impact Dove Award for Christian Artists, which was presented in Nashville at the Gospel Music Awards.
