American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy gave fans something to talk about last October when he revealed that all AHS series are actually connected to each other, despite the show being widely recognized as an anthology series.
AHS maintained their seasons' individuality only until Freakshow's episode "Orphans," where fans finally got their answers on how the stories are linked, and it is through the characters of Pepper and Sister Mary Eunice.
Sister Mary Eunice, played by Lily Rabe, was one of the main characters in Asylum. She was a nun with a pure soul working in Briarcliff Manor until she was possessed by the Devil. She made her first appearance in Freakshow's "Orphans," talking to Pepper's sister who was weaving up lies just to get her deformed sister admitted.
Sister Mary Eunice accepts Pepper, believing that she was indeed guilty of a crime, but manages to show her some kindness.
The heartbreaking mid-season finale "Orphans" also told fans about Pepper's back story and how Elsa Mars collected the freaks and started their family.
Freak show will be back on January 7 with the highly-anticipated appearance of Neil Patrick Harris and AHS alum Jamie Brewer.
