Melbourne Heart played their catch up game against the Melbourne Victory in the first ever Melbourne derby. Both teams were desperate to take bragging rights in the city however it was Heart to take the first ever encounter winning 2-1 in front of 26,000 fans. The game gave the A-League a much needed lift after some dismal crowds early in the season.
In the European qualifiers most of the countries don't play until midweek however Croatia did have a tough test away at Israel. Croatia started well and took the lead going into the break at half time 2-0 ahead, however a spirited comeback from Israel was on the cards when the pulled a goal back. Israel couldn't find a late equaliser and in the end the Croatians won 2-1.
The other European qualifier saw France take on Romania in France. The former World Cup winners were to strong for Romania coming out 2-0 winners in front of their own supporters.
The Premiership will be back next weekend after the international break.
