Matt Browning from Rotorua who leads the Aspiring Leaders Forum at Parliament House Wellington, was interviewed by Jeremy Suisted from Cambridge (Waikato) for the Australian Missionary News IPTV. This interview is now available on the Well-Being Australia's YouTube channel.
All this happened at last month's Press Service International's young writer conference held in Sydney where both Matt Browning and Jeremy Suisted are two of the New Zealand young writers in this international ministry domiciled in Australia.
The Australian Missionary News IPTV was established in 2006 for the specific purpose of placing on video - interviews and conferences – with an emphasis on short pithy videos. Jeremy and Matt excel in this format!
These short video interviews have included sports personalities, business, church, missions, entertainment, conferences and a whole lot more. There have been a number of anchormen and women involved, the most recent being Australian Jeremy Dover and New Zealand's Jeremy Suisted.
A sample of those interviewed have included Margaret Court (Tennis), Greg Chappell (Cricket), Basil Sellers (Corporate), Andrew West (Media), Simon Manchester (Church), Rowland Croucher (Pastor's Pastor) .....
The Australian Missionary News IPTV kicked off after Dr Mark Tronson's 14 years in Moruya (south coast of NSW) ministering at the Timeout in Moruya respite facility for Australian Institute of Sport elite athletes. He had retired after 17 years as the Australian cricket team chaplain and this new arena fitted very neatly into his ministry portfolios. The playlists are the easiest way to find specific videos.
Mark and Delma Tronson went on the road (as it were) when their children were off their hands - combining their travelling preaching missions and Country Town Tours ministry with pre-arranged interviews. Delma interviewed sporting luminaries such as Netball's Susan Fuhrmann, Softball's Kylie Cronk, Christian activist Jenny Baxter .....
Matt Browning
New Zealand anchorman for the Australian Missionary News IPTV, Jeremy Susited - along with Belinda Croft on camera and producer - met with Matt Browning for this interview during the lunch break at the recent young writers conference in Sydney.
Matt Browning explained he was from Rotorua with the smell of sulphur in the air (hot springs) along with quite wonderful lakes and forests.
Jeremy Suisted asked Matt that as a recognised New Zealand inspiring young leader what was it that gave him his drive. Matt explained he saw himself as representing God in various ways within his community with vision and self sacrifice.
Matt Browning noted that the more responsibility he is given the more he feels there is more self expectation (at least self imposed), and in Rotorua for him, this is worked out through various mission related activities.
He illustrated a few of these. He co-ordinates a food caravan to those without and who need help in such difficult and emotional situations. He co-ordinates programs to help those coming out of prison at one end of the scale, to high school drop-outs who feel there is no hope and little if any self esteem. These have proven rewarding and gained some publicity.
Matt Browning emphasised that he saw his ministry as a 'voice' for those who have 'no voice'.
Round table
Matt Browning recently participated in the Aspiring Young Leaders Forum, a round table involving a group of people between the ages 18-30, including politicians and community leaders.
He said he found this stimulating and heard a very different 'voice' - there was hope and aspiration, drive and commitment, opportunity and passion.
Jeremy Suisted asked Matt how this came about and Matt explained it came from his local input which was recognised. There is a biblical reference here to be faithful in small things .... To conclude with some 'across the ditch' humour, Jeremy sussed out Matt on his attitude to the Australian cricket team!!
