After Benedict Cumberbatch announced his engagement to Sophie Hunter, his arrival at the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival naturally drew curious reporters to his wedding plans.
But the Sherlock star says that he and his fiancé, who joined him for the event, that despite the engagement, they aren't rushing to walk down the aisle.
His response as to whether they were busy trying to make wedding plans amid the busy award season was: "One thing at a time."
"I'm playing Sherlock now — just about to start — so my main focus is going to be on that."
Cumberbatch joined the Palm Springs festivities to pick up an award alongside his The Imitation Game co-stars. The film is premised on a British World War II hero Alan Turing who helped end the war but was later persecuted for being gay.
"I've been chosen to speak," Cumberbatch began as he took the stage with his cast, "which is alarming."
Keria Knightley was notably absent from the festivities, with Cumberbatch joking that her absence was because she mistakenly thought the event was being held in Florida and was currently busy fighting of alligators and getting a sunburn.
He later on explains that Knightley was feeling "under the weather" and wished the star a speedy recovery.
