Producers are hoping to gain new viewers for the upcoming season of 'Blindspot', one of the highest rated new series on broadcast TV.
Martin Gero, the creator of 'Blindspot' said during the show's presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that they were "viewing Season 2 as even more important than Season 1."
"One of the reasons we went so hard after Archie is we wanted to bring new viewers in... if you start watching [with Season 2], it'll be just as fun for you. We want to reward our loyal viewers and not alienate our casual ones."
Blindspot Season 2 picks up 3 months after the sucessful first season's finale where Kurt arrested Jane Doe after discovering that his father has murdered his childhood friend Taylor Shaw and Jane Doe has been pretending to be her.
Gero also confirmed that in Season 2 fans will finally learn Jane's real name and get answers from several mysteries from Season 1.
"For us, Taylor Shaw is behind us aside from the emotional fallout for Kurt and Jane... not only are you gonna find out Jane's name, you're gonna find out what Orion is, who Shepard is, what the plan of the organization is," he teased, adding that the team wanted to move into the story of the second while also reward loyal viewers of the NBC hit.
Gero also said that he hoped Season 2 would offer some "lighter moments" to bring out the chemistry between the ensemble cast members, whilst giving more screen to Patterson, Reade and Zapata, which "allows the show to feel a little fuller."
Blindspot Season 2 will premiere on September 14 on NBC.
