Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are undeniably Hollywood's hottest and most-sought after couple, trailed relentlessly by paparazzi and their adoring public alike. So the fact that the couple manage to tie the knot - without anybody knowing - is quite the feat!
Appararently, Pitt and Jolie were already wed even before their touching nuptials in France.
"Before the wedding in France with the kids, Brad and I were already married in California," Jolie revealed in the January 10 edition of the Corriere della Sera via Us Weekly. "As Americans, we couldn't marry legally in France."
She said that their marriage was pretty simple and direct to the point, done without any fuss. "One day I said to Brad, 'Let's meet up at 4:30 p.m.?' I called a justice of the peace and we signed the documents," she recalled.
Their French wedding, though more publicly known, was still a very intimate affair. They exchanged vows inside an ancient stone chapel at Château Miraval, which is the Jolie-Pitt family's estate in Correns, France.
They only had 20 guests, which included Jolie's brother James Haven. They had no elaborate sound system playing in the background as Jolie walked down the aisle; instead, the guests hummed the traditional processional tune "Here Comes the Bride" as Jolie made her way to Pitt, accompanied by their sons Maddox and Pax.
Pitt decided to observe certain wedding traditions such as refraining from seeing the bride's gown until she walked down the aisle. Her gown, a creation by Versace, was a testament of the family's love for each other as it bore the drawings made by the Jolie-Pitt kids.
Meanwhile, their wedding bands were designed by Robert Procop. Shiloh and Knox served as the couple's ring-bearers.
