A Christian couple in China's northwestern region Xinjiang have been arrested by authorities for displaying a cross in their home. Also imprisoned was a woman who was visiting the couple.
The couple detained were Dai, a Christian who hosts a house church from his home, and wife, Li. According to China Aid, police also raided their home and confiscated several religious items. This is the second time that the church has been raided this year.
Dai has since been released, but Li and their guest remain imprisoned.
The Chinese government has reportedly been growing increasingly hostile towards Christians. A few months back, two women had been detained by the police in the same region, accused of indoctrinating minors with religious and superstitious beliefs.
The women, Zhou Yanhua and Gao Ming, were members of Yining County Church and had been arrested for 15 and 10 days respectively.
Dr. David Curry, of Open Doors, previously told Christian Breaking News that many within China view Christianity and their rapid growth as a "threat to national unity."
