I would love a dollar for every time I am asked, do we have a Christian foundation as a nation?
The follow up question is along the lines, well if that is so, why does it matter?
Surely this is a new day we are a multicultural community, and a Christian foundation is not appropriate, or doesn’t count.
Have you ever been in such a conversation? How have you responded?
Observations
I am one who believes Australia does have a Judea Christian foundation and it makes a real difference. Lose this and the values we hold dear, like the human dignity and human worth of all people, are at great risk.
There are two recent events that took place that are really helpful in this regard.
The first is leading American Pastor Tim Keller’s speech to the English Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast.
The British Prime Minister was just one of the leaders who was present and in the speech Dr Keller courageously and simply defends the Christian heritage for much of the West and what happens when it is lost.

The other event
The other event is an article just released by the Lausanne Movement on how spiritual foundations make or break the foundations of a nation.
It is based on lessons learnt from Sierra Leone.
Its link is:

I encourage you to go to the above links and be equipped to share why our Christian heritage is of such importance.
The lie is that all world views are the same! The Christian world view is unique and if we lose its foundation as a nation, we will lose much.
