Manchester United were unconvincing however did get all 3 points as they defeated Sunderland 1-0. United had chances to put the victory beyond doubt however struggled to see off the game. The win keeps united firmly in 2nd spot, with some difficult fixtures ahead.
Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 win at home to West Brom. The gunners look like they have regained their form after a terrible start to the season, and are now looking good in 7th position only 3 points behind Chelsea and a Champions League spot. Van Persie again scored to take his tally to 10 and being the first striker in the premier league to reach double figures.
Chelsea stayed in touch with the leaders with a 1-0 away win at Blackburn. The tricky away test was a good indication that Chelsea are still alive in the title race, however Liverpool slipped again with a 0-0 draw with Swansea. The result was not what Liverpool needed now 12 points behind top of the table City.
In other fixtures this weekend, Newcastle kept their unbeaten run going with a 2-1 win over Everton, Villa won 3-2 in an entertaining match against Norwich whilst Wolves defeated Wigan 3-1. Spurs won 3-1 at neibours Fulham and Bolton thrashed Stoke City 5-0 to kick start their season.
