City upsets United's treble dream

FA Cup semi finalist Manchester City played local rivals Manchester United at Wembley in the Weekends first semi final and the match didn't disappoint. City haven't won any silverware in over 35 years and were tested early as Berbatov had chances galore in the first 30 minutes. However a bad mistake from Carrick gifted City a chance they took and went on to book themselves a place in the Final and a chance of breaking their duck. In the other Semi Final, Stoke thrashed Bolton 5-0 to progress to their clubs biggest match in recent years.

In the Premier League Arsenal almost sealed their fate after a disappointing 1-1 home draw to Liverpool. Arsenal gave away a penalty in stoppage time to put them a long way adrift of United. Chelsea had a great win away at West Brom coming out 3-1 winners after falling behind early. Drogba was instrumental in his side's final push for the premiership title.

Other fixtures saw Aston Villa get a stoppage time winner away at West Ham winning 2-1. Everton were too strong for Blackburn winning 2-0 at Goodison whilst Birmingham continued Sunderland's poor form winning 2-0 at the Stadium of Light. Wigan climbed off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone with a 3-1 win over Blackpool in a 6 pointer and was the weekend's biggest winners with that result.
