On the 19th March 2006, the Commonwealth Game in Melbourne with the potential to attract up to one billion television viewers has spurred the Wesley Mission Reverend Keith Garner to conduct a special ‘Commonwealth Games Special Service’ at 7pm at Wesley Centre Sydney.
In this service, ‘daring’ Olympics bob-sledder Jeremy Rolleston will shares how ‘God blessed him at the Winter Games’ with Reverend Garner.
Jeremy an active Christian since the age of 15 and his sledding partner Shane McKenzie became Australia’s best-ever-two-man bobsleigh team last month. He freely acknowledged ‘his debt to the supreme Pilot Jesus Christ.’
Also being interviewed by Reverend Garner is Melanie Collins who is an 800m athlete in the 1994 Commonwealth Games.
The theme for this Sunday Service delivered by Reverend Garner will be ‘Spectator Christianity’ where he wants to remind people ‘there is a real challenge in Christianity and you can choose whether to be a spectator or a participant.’
Keith Garner’s sermon will be available in text and audio on www.wesleymission.org.au from the Praise, Prayer and Preaching link on Monday, 20 March.
