You are deeply loved by God.
Now, I know if you’ve grown up in church or in a Christian household, you may have heard that a bunch of times.
But, do you believe it?
Our desire for love
At our core, we all desire love. We desire to be connected, accepted and truly understood for all that we are.
We crave the freedom that comes from knowing that we have value, and that our life has purpose and meaning.
For so many of us though, if we are truly honest, we want all of these things very deeply, yet so often become disappointed and hurt because we don’t feel like we have them.
Over time, it could be easy to become hard and bitter, or develop an independent mindset where we convince ourselves that we don’t need anyone else. Or even deeper than that, we can run away and become completely isolated altogether.
But I believe all of those desires are actually built into us for a reason.
They are there for a purpose.
We just can’t fill them ourselves.
God created us for relationship with him
Our God, the God of the universe, created us.
And when he did, he created in us a deep longing to be loved, because he wants to fill that longing with his love. And the truth is, he is the only one who can.
He is completely, overwhelmingly, and recklessly in love with you, and he wants to reveal to you how deep that love really is.
He desires to do life very personally with you, so intimately that you know him better than you know any other person. He wants fill every space in your heart and to provide for your every need.
And, it’s when we truly understand that love, that we can walk in complete freedom and feel totally fulfilled.
It’s through him that we’ll start to understand that we are worthy of love and acceptance.
And when we know that we’re loved by God, we won’t feel the same need to gain love or acceptance from other.
That doesn’t mean that we will be cut off or disconnected from others. It actually means we will be able to connect deeper with them, because we won’t have any expectations of them, or any disappointment when we don’t feel like they came through.
I believe that we are created for community and connection, but when we rely on people to fill our needs, we will never really feel completely full. We will constantly be searching for more, but it will never really be enough.
It’s only when we turn to Jesus, that that will change.
Walking in his love
He really, really does love you. So deeply.
And I know me saying that may not change how you feel. What will though, is time with him.
He longs and aches to reveal himself to you, to spend time with you, and to show you who you are.
We only need to ask.
Ask him to reveal how loved you are, the worth you have, and why you were created so wonderfully.
Ask him,
Then sit back and listen.
Allow him to fill the desires of your heart.
