In Romans chapter 10 verse 14, Paul posed a question, "How are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard?" Then Paul answered that question in verse 17, "faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of God." The Greek verb "hearing" tells us that faith is the result of the oral communication of God's word between the preachers and listeners. In our daily lives, most of us read the word of God, and we don't often listen to or hear the word of God enough. However, Paul in Romans chapter 10 emphasizes the value of listening to the word of God. Last month, I discovered Dwell, a new audio Bible app that keeps the word of God in your ears and your heart. I have used in for a month, and since using this app, I have been deeply edified and sanctified through listening to the Scripture. This article will review three aspects of the app, I believe, that would also benefit you spiritually.
The Purpose of Dwell
Dwell is an app that allows you to listen to the Scripture in the way that you want it. Most of us often read the Bible. We don't listen to the Scripture except during the worship service on Sunday from the preacher. Now, Dwell allows us to listen to the word of God in whatever way that we want. We can pick and choose the text. We can rewind or forward. The app is designed to facilitate the need of the audience.
Moreover, the readers on the app do not read the Scripture like they need a phone book. The Scripture was read by those who understand and love the Bible. Therefore, they read the text with the right tone and passion.
The Features of Dwell
Dwell has so many features that would allow you to listen to the Scripture in a customized way. First, there is music that is composed initially exclusively for the Scripture. You can also change the voice and music independently to match your experience or mood. You can create your playlist of passages that you love. Dwell offers reading plans, stories, themes, and even playlists that would match with your mood, whether you feel alone, afraid, and ashamed. This app provides multiple bible versions along with playlists of scripture memorization. However, the app does not have the NASB version, and therefore it is the one thing that I hope the app would later provide. Nevertheless, it is incredible to see how God has used the technology for the edification and sanctification of the church. This app will expose you to a new way to interact with the Scripture.
The Price of the App
Dwell offers a variety of payments that would make it very affordable for everyone. You can purchase lifetime access with a one-time purchase or make a monthly or annual payment, and the monthly payment is as much as a cup of coffee. This app is worth what you pay monthly. Dwell also offers a subscription to churches and their members. Many have wondered why the app is not free. The answer is that "workers are worthy of their wages" (1 Timothy chapter 5 verse18). The workers of Dwell have always strived to add value to their customers and to bring them delight with every use, and therefore, they are worthy of their wages.
I hope that this app would benefit you guys as much as it does to me. I can listen to the Scripture when I drive, work, and go out for a walk because of this app. It helps me meditate and sleep also. I would give this app 10/10. This app is a prime example of how we can use technology for the glory of God and the sanctification of the church.
