In the Sydney Daily Telegraph, it reported that more than 1000 people marched in the parade to 'spread the message of Easter.' Meanwhile, in Brisbane the Courier Mail summed up the message of Easter in its headline which read, 'Easter message of hope and forgiveness.'
The media coverage delighted the organisers, who had made it clear that this march was here to stay and it would continue to grow. Further a sense of mission filled the organisers who would like to see it being made greater.
"The media and the church leaders who participated made it clear that the march is here to stay and will continue to grow over the next few years," said Matt Garvin, the Media Liaison for Awakening. "The sense as we talked was, this has been great – let's make it greater!"
The Easter March in Queensland was one of the most effective in recent history, said Wells O'Neil, the State Representative for Awakening, where around 60,000 Queenslanders participated in the festivals, vigils and Holy Weeks program in the Botanical Gardens and in the March itself.
In Melbourne, the media reported that the March 'spanned a block and a half of the Central Business District on Easter Day.' Television coverage from two commercial channels was on hand to film the March. 700 people marched in Perth to celebrate the Resurrection, while in South Australia, 11 churches and about 200 people in Gawler came on Friday night to participate in a prayer vigil. Among the prayer topics, were prayer points given by the children living in Canada.
The Nigerian High Commissioner in Canberra brought a commission prayer to remind all of the need to be involved in the local communities and to bring the hope of Easter to all. Finally in Hobart, Easter Greeting was exchanged in different languages and over 100 giant yellow and green sunflowers were distributed among the crowd.
Finally Cleary was pleased with the March, especially at the participation of young people in the March.
"I am very encouraged by the reports from the Marches around the country," said Cleary. "A feature has been the influx of young people. The next generation is turning up for work!"
