"Last year's Fair was an overwhelming success," said organiser Barbara Higgins. "Those who came enjoyed the atmosphere with music, food and a huge range of products to purchase," she said.
Fair Trade is a growing international movement that ensures that producers in poor countries get a fair deal. Fair Trade is about consistent prices, decent working conditions and community development. It also addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which discriminates against the poorest and weakest producers, enabling them to improve their position and have more control over their lives. Fair Trade ensures there is no child exploitation in the production of goods and women are valued equally as men. Work conditions are safe and healthy.
More than twenty Fair Trade stallholders will be selling goods and opportunity will be given to learn more about the fair trade movement. There will be live music, lots of food to feed the family and fun for the children as well as hourly, lucky door prizes – a great evening for the whole family.
It will be an opportunity to not only shop for Christmas but to help those less fortunate.
