Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb will probably be one of the last films people will see of the late actor Robin Williams, who played United States President Theodore Roosevelt in the three franchises. And its director Shawn Levy said that the heart and humor of the film pays a fitting tribute to the memory of the actor.
"The heart of these movies has always been critical to its success," Levy explained to the Sydney Morning Herald. "I know that Robin for one always appreciated the fact that these movies were funny and unabashedly, uncynically warm. I felt that was an appropriate tone for this one, and despite the fact that its got that added layer of poignancy now, I know it's what Robin valued and it's what I value so we're going to honour that."
Ben Stiller, who plays security guard Larry Daley agrees with Levy. "I don't think the movies will ever be the same without Robin in them, and he's so much the heart and soul," he said.
"I remember when we were making the first movie and the idea came up of Robin for Teddy Roosevelt, I got so excited. When Shawn said what about Robin Williams, I said that's perfect and then a moment later I thought, if he says no we can't make the movie. He is the guy to play it."
