All fitness trackers have usually a thing in common, they are expensive. But with Pivotal Living, fitness tracker cost only $12 a year of subscription.
Pivotal Tracker 1 will monitor distance traveled, active minutes, steps, sleep quality and length, calories burned, weight, and hydration. It syncs wirelessly and water resistant, its battery can last for 5 to 7 days. Users need to sync to the app to have a historical data on his progress.
Pivotal Tracker 1is free with a subscription fee of $12 yearly for their app on mobile and it works on Android and iOS devices. If the user wishes to renew his subscription, the company will send him the new tracker. If the user will not renew, he can still use the device to track his movements but the user cannot access the app that shows user's progress.
"The world really doesn't need another fitness app or fitness trackers," as what Pivotal Living CEO and co-founder David Donovick believes. "The market is inundated with them. What we need is more accessible trackers. Think about a family of four who wants to get healthy; they're not going to spend $400 on trackers for everyone."
Shipment of the bands of Pivotal has only started. The first one to arrive is the band with iOS app. The Android will be available on Google Play store soon.
Pivotal Tracker 1 is almost weightless on the users' wrist. To track daily activities, three integrated sensors are being used. It also has OLED displays that have a button that a user can push to navigate through calories, time, steps, distance, step goal percentage, and sleep or activity mode. Basic features that latest smart bands have could also be found on it.
The pre-sales of Pivotal Tracker 1 started last October.
Pivotal will not only sell its $12 a year subscription but also a $15 per year Team Edition fitness tracker. The add-on $3 will go to Upower in partnership with The Lawyer Milloy Foundation.
