Former Olympian appointed to key leadership role in 2012 Olympic outreach

Lay Witnesses for Christ International's Board of Directors have unanimously endorsed its Presidents' (Dr. Sam Mings, Sr.) recommendation to appoint Angela Harris to serve a s a pivotal member of the Athletes Executive Committee for Lay Witnesses for Christ International's forthcoming eighth Summer Olympic Outreach to be known as 'Bridging the Gap 2012 London ~ England Olympics'. Lay Witnesses for Christ is known as 'Chaplains to the World's Olympians' having led major outreaches at past seven Summer Olympics.

Angela Harris competed in the 1984 Olympics representing Australia. Angela has been involved in Sports Chaplaincy for twenty years working with Dr. Mings' much respected associate, Dr. Mark Tronson had recommended Angela to join the historic ministry team invited into Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. Angela – provided tremendous leadership as Dr. Mings had the opportunity to observe her first hand. He and his wife Sharon grew to love Angela and left China knowing they had met and fallen in love with someone (Angela) who loved her family so very much – just as they do!

Angela is married to Pastor Gary Harris and they have two beautiful daughters, Lucy and Georgina. They reside in Sydney and provide ministry leadership at Sydney's Christian Outreach Centre. The Athletes Executive Committee is directly accountable to the Executive Directors – Dr. Sam & Sharon Mings. Angela is the first female athlete invited to serve during 'Bridging the Gap 2012 London ~ England'. Their task is to provide leadership and encouragement to the current and former athletes involved. Dr. Mings has challenged Angela to begin enlisting former athletes and coaches to join with literally hundreds who will unashamedly be proclaiming Jesus Christ as mankind's only answer for mankind's every need!
