His congregation is very involved in all the areas of the church from seniors, to youth, to young children and the fellowship between all these age groups is a hallmark of his people.

Georg Schierling explained that Lederhosen have remained regionally popular and are commonly associated with virility and brawn, as traditionally they were the durable garments worn for hard physical work both in Bavaria and in Austria. Today, they are still popular as leisure wear, despite the sceptical smiles of those in the Northern part of Germany which has a quite different culture.

Another interesting part of the life of Georg Schierling, which reflects the changing culture of modern Germany, was that he had his two adult daughters with him at the Baptist World Congress even though he himself is divorced.
This part of his life is an open book and his congregation support him and his singleness. In his situation it is not an issue, as with most German Baptists, there is a fresh approach of 'getting on with life' that is replacing the more traditional attitude which, in some congregations, may have been more judgemental of him.
