The new premises will serve as headquarters for MAF Australia's recruitment (pilots and engineers) promotional, fundraising and communications activities.
Those functions were previously carried out at a temporary local address using limited staff and administrative resources.
MAF Australia Chief Executive, Rob Owen, said the new facility would enable the appointment of staff to fill a number of strategic roles and provide MAF Australia with a more effective means of communicating with its national network of 10,000 Australian supporters.
"A bold, new direction"
"This is a bold new direction for MAF Australia and a great opportunity for us to engage more effectively with our staff, donors, supporters and volunteer workers," said Mr Owen.
"It also gives us an expanded base to carry out the administrative work associated with supporting our many pilots, engineers and their families serving in places like Papua New Guinea and Arnhem Land. In addition, it will contribute to a heightening of awareness within the local community of the work we do."
Mission Aviation Fellowship was formed just after WWII almost simultaneously in Australia, The United States and Great Britain when returning Christian aviators banded together with a vision to use their flying skills for reaching isolated people in remote parts of the world.
Today, MAF operates 135 aircraft in more than 30 countries, serves almost 1500 churches, mission organisations and aid agencies and flies to 2500 destinations across the developing world, often small communities accessible only by aircraft.
With an aircraft taking off or landing somewhere in the world every three minutes, MAF is the world's busiest airline.
Mr Owen said among those attending Saturday's office opening would be members of the MAF Australia Board, NSW State Council and representatives of various Sydney churches which support the work of MAF.
