Consistent performances in all three races meant the team finished the weekend seventh overall, leaving them just 4 points ahead of fourth placed David Sieders.
Saturday saw just the one race.
Scheduled for 10.15 am the drivers were all suited up and on the dummy grid by around 9.45 am when the V8 Supercar qualifying session was delayed, which saw the Ute race was shortened from 12 laps to seven.
Andrew 'Fishtail' Fisher made up 2 positions by Turn One.
Ryal Harris clearly had good pace and Andrew chose to not to do battle, given his speed and clear determination.
Andrew slipped back to 6th but Ryal's run was short lived as he made heavy contact with the wall through a chicane and Fisher was able to return to 5th position.
Andrew was happy to come away with fifth, and a straight car!
It was also great to have a contingent of Gloria Jean's Coffees clients and staff join the team at the track.
They were thrilled with the action and in particular the great coverage and result achieved by the Jesus Racing Ute.
Race 2 on Sunday morning saw the Yokohama V8 Ute Series underway with a reverse Grid race.
Fishtail started from the 3rd row of the grid and pressed hard to come through to the front but was also conscious of avoiding damage, with only 1 hour to turn the cars around before race 3.
The Jesus Ute made another great start and settled into great rhythm behind Charlie O'Brien.
Andrew was held up by Charlie for a fair bit of the race, while all kinds of events unfolded around the rest of the field.
Jack Elsegood came through behind Fisher then on the last lap Charlie made a mistake, bunching up the pack behind him.
Jack made contact with the Jesus Ute a number of times, in particular at turn 11, pushing Fishtail off line and making the pass, leaving the Jesus Ute to finish the race in 6th position.
Race 3 was later on this afternoon and saw the Jesus Ute start from Position 8 on the grid.
'Fishtail' made another amazing start, getting the jump on Jeremy Gray and sliding past Rhys McNally at turn 11.
An incident early on saw the race under safety car at the end of the first lap, then when the green light came on Andrew was able to maintain 6th and come up on Gary Baxter. He had good pace on Baxter but the Holden had more grunt where it mattered and the Jesus Ute came home 6th.
The Gold Cost track is one of the most difficult in the series, with no margin for error, so Andrew 'Fishtail' Fisher was pleased with the result, and also happy the car sustained no real damage.
"If you make a mistake on the Gold Coast track, it's straight into the concrete wall," says Andrew. "We had no major incidents and although I would have liked to have finished closer to the pointy end, I am pleased we were strongly placed in every race."
Off the track, the team visited several local Gloria Jean's stores where they met with fans to talk about the team's work and racing.
Andrew also addressed a large crowd at the Southport Church of Christ last night and addressed a men's breakfast on the Gold Coast this morning.
All energies are now focussed on the Sydney 500 in December.
The team has five weeks off the racetrack to prepare the car for the tight, fast circuit.
""We are quick at Homebush," says Andrew. "It's important we put in a strong performance in Sydney to cement our spot on the ladder. Of course, we are aiming for a podium finish and are already working toward making that a reality.
"The Sydney track is tight and hard with no room for error. It's vital we qualify fast so are ahead of the pack at the start and therefore best-placed to finish up the front.
"This is the last round of the championship and with just four points between us and fourth place, it's really coming down to the wire so I'm already looking forward to getting behind the wheel."
The next race of the Yokohama V8 Ute Series will be held at the Sydney Telstra 500 at Homebush on the weekend of December 3-5.
