Season 13 of the ABC veteran medical drama series 'Grey's Anatomy' is reportedly set to focus deeply on the remaining, original cast members of the show.
Meredith's half sister Maggie, played by Kelly McCreary, who last season confessed to having the hots for Riggs, has revealed that creator Shonda Rhimes will focus more on the old cast in when the show returns.
This means Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) will get a huge chunk of the spotlight in the much-awaited series.
"After such a long period of time and so many new people coming in and out, they remain the foundational characters of the show," McCreary said, while calling the old characters rich and important to the audience.
"We're gonna be spending some more time with them to check in with where they are. The way that we spent time with Meredith last season, exploring the major shift in her life, the loss of Derek, I think we can expect to see those doctors being explored where they are in this moment, all these years later, the changes that they've gone through," she added, according to TV Guide.
It was earlier reported that the ABC's popular show will feature a major storyline surrounding Alex and Jo, which came as a much relief for the fans, as the finale left them wondering what will happen to the pair after Jo confessed to already being married and living under an alias in fear him.
But this does not means that the viewers will miss out new developments for later additions, like Amelia and Owen, and April and Jackson.
