As a not-for-profit community radio station, Hope 103.2 relies predominately on listener donations, and to some extent on-air sponsorship, to cover the organisation's day-to-day running costs. However, due to the economy, the station has experienced a number of particularly tough years due to rising costs, and reduced giving levels.
The theme of this year's June Appeal was "Going Way Beyond Ourselves", which the aim of Hope 103.2 each and every day.
CEO Phillip Randall commented, "Hope 103.2 has always aimed to be a radio station that cares about the community we serve… and that community of listeners have once again shown us how much they want this community service to continue."
"Throughout the appeal, our listeners shared on a very personal level about how much they are helped each day through our positive music, lifestyle segments, and telephone counselling service. We even had kids come in their PJs to give their pocket money as they love listening to the station with their parents!"
581,000 Sydneysiders and their families tune into Hope 103.2 each month (according to McNair Ingenuity Research), a listening audience that has been on the increase over the past 10 years and one that is clearly reflected in this latest successful fundraising result.
