A school in northern Thailand has changed the lives of Burmese students.
Elpis School has been providing free education to Burmese refugees for more than ten years now. The school's ministry lives up to its name, Elpis, which means 'hope' in the Greek language. They have been helping children who escaped the violence and extreme poverty in Burma.
According to CBN News, Tun Nai Oo, who was a former student, has been teaching in his former school. He said, "Elpis taught me many things. And now I want to share what I learned with my own people."
Elpis School's co-founder Maria Nelma Amihan is thankful to God as they have been guided to shelter and teach illegal child migrants. She stated, "The Lord gave me a verse, 'Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears for your work will be rewarded, says the Lord. Your children will go back to their own land.'" She added, "And it is a promise I am holding on until now."
The school has been trained by CBN's Asian Center for Missions and the students are currently 300 in total and is vastly growing.
Aside from free education, the school is also giving free lunch to young people and has been sheltering high school students which has been a protection to young girls from prostitution.
