Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, Yahweh Elohim, is coming back to this earth. He is coming back for those who are ready; for those who have persevered; andfor those who did not compromise despite all the challenges of this life. He is coming back for those who lived as light and according to his divine will.
Jesus is coming back but we do not know when. According to Matthew chapter 24 verse 36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”
Are you ready?
Do you remember the parable Jesus told of the ten virgins? Five of them were wise and five were foolish. The wise virgins took their lamps and took oil with them, while the foolish virgins only took their lamps, they had no oil. They waited for the bridegroom to arrive, and at midnight there was a cry “Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him”.
All the virgins arose and trimmed their lamps, it was then that the five foolish virgins realized that they needed oil. The five foolish virgins had to go and buy oil for themselves. While they were gone, the bridegroom came. The five wise virgins were welcomed into the wedding. The door was shut and by the time the five foolish virgins returned, it was too late. When they pleaded with the bridegroom to let them in, his response was “I do not know you.”
Be Alert
I pray that we will all be ready for the return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We must put on and keep on the whole Armor of God so that we will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 1st Peter chapter 5 and verse 8 reads “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The enemy knows that his time is short and so he will do everything to distract, deceive and shift our focus from God. So as Peter said, we must be alert.
I know that living to please God is not easy, but God is our strength. When we earnestly seek to please God, He will give us the strength to overcome every fiery dart the enemy throws at us. So, as we wait, let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith. Get ready, stay ready, do not give up.
One day, as the songwriter beautifully puts it, the clouds will be rolled back as a scroll, the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend. Will it be well with our souls?
Let us live a life of continuous repentance before Almighty God, hold on and remember the goal, eternal life with Jesus Christ.
