The first Divergent movie left us with quite a cliffhanger, and though lead stars Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) are currently safe, what will become of them in Insurgent?
Celebeat revealed certain details of Insurgent, which will hit theaters on March 20, 2015. Tris and Four, together with her brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort) and Marcus (Ray Stevenson) are headed towards Amity, where they are temporarily allowed to stay in peace. However, peace soon leaves them as Erudite and Dauntless forces arrive and a gunfight ensues.
The refugees are forced to leave Amity, and finds another haven in a factionless safe zone whose people are under the leadership of Evelyn (Naomi Watts). What's surprising is that Evelyn is actually Four's mother, who has long been presumed dead. Whatever the reason, Tris and Four did not stay long and decide to move to Candor.
This is where Tris and Four face their biggest challenge yet. In Candor, they are arrested and subjected to a truth serum trial, forcing the two to confront their deepest fears and guilt.
Four was forced to admit that he joined Dauntless to escape his father's abuse, while Tris confesses her guilt in shooting and killing Will.
An attack shortly follows the trial, and Dauntless traitors led by Eric (Jai Courtney) shoots them with a more powerful simulation serum, allowing Jeanine (Kate Winslet) to exert greater control over her victim. They take Tris to Erudite headquarters, where Jeanine subjects her to more trials in order to discover the locations of the factionless safe houses.
Unsuccessful, Jeanine then orders Tris' execution under the hands of Peter (Miles Teller). Will Tris make it out alive this time?
The third book in the Divergent series written by Veronica Moth entitled Allegiant will also be made into a movie.
