Nader Talebzadeh highlighted two flaws within Mel Gibson's blockbuster to the APF news agency, saying, first, Jesus Christ was not the son of God but rather he was among one of the five great prophets, according to the Koran. Second, Mr. Talebzadeh said Jesus Christ was not the one who was crucified but rather it was one of his 12 disciples, Judah Iscariot.
He explained to the news agency that the purpose of film was to show Christians how much Muslims know about Jesus Christ and to also build a common bridge between the two religions.
"It is fascinating for Christians to know that Islam gives such devotion to and has so much knowledge about Jesus," Talebzadeh told AFP.
"By making this film I wanted to make a bridge between Christianity and Islam, to open the door for dialogue since there is much common ground between Islam and Christianity," he said.
However, some Christian theologians might disagree with Mr. Talebzadeh interpretation of Jesus Christ. Reverend Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Seminary, said that any attempt to diminish the status of Jesus Christ in Christianity is a huge problem.
