Jennifer Aniston said that it is unfair for women to be deemed selfish for choosing not to have babies.
"This continually is said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I don't want to be a mother, and how selfish that is," the 45-year-old actress told Allure magzine.
"I don't like the pressure that people put on me, on women - that you've failed yourself as a female because you haven't procreated. I don't think it's fair," she said. "You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesn't mean you aren't mothering - dogs, friends, friends' children."
Aniston admits that it is not easy for her to talk about motherhood, and that it has always been a sore topic. "Even saying it gets me a little tight in my throat," she said.
The actress has recently been recognized for her outstanding role in the film Cake, where she plays a woman who suffers chronic pain after getting into a car accident. She's has been nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award for her role.
