Hunger Games star and Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence has topped the list of Hollywood's top grossing actors for 2014.
Recently starring in the first installment of Mockingjay, the media darling has managed to rake in a total of US$1.4 billion in global box office. Adding to this are additional franchise projects such as the sequel to X-Men.
Next in line is Chris Pratt who managed to break into the mainstream despite having been a fixture on television screens in the last few years with Parks and Recreation. Pratt joins the Marvel family with a tentpole franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy and makes US$ 1.2 billion, supplemented by voice work he did for the successful animated film, The Lego Movie.
Scarlett Johansson comes in third, making it a very good year for the recent bride and new mother. She starred in box office hits such as Captain America alongside Chris Evans and played the lead in Lucy and Under the Skin.
Notable Hollywood names included in the list are Mark Wahlberg who was in the latest Transformers franchise, third placer ScarJo's co-star Chris Evans who stars in two action flicks, Captain America and Snowpiercer and Emma Stone who was in another superhero blockbuster, Spider-Man.
Angelina Jolie is also included in the list, drawing in the big bucks for her film Maleficent, James McAvoy who plays Professor X in X-Men, Michael Fassbender who was also in the same film as Magneto and Hugh Jackman.
