Driver Andrew Fisher was racing at his first ever Fujitsu V8 Supercar event when in Lap 5 of Race Two, as he headed for the 'Dipper' he rounded a corner and T-boned Geoff Emery's Economy Bolts / NDD Holden, which had spun out, then moved directly back across the track into the path of Fisher
Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, neither driver was seriously hurt in the incident.
Stewards conducted a full investigation, finding there was nothing Fisher could have done to avoid Emery's vehicle.
Geoff Emery was issued a reprimand for his manoeuvre back across the track, however the Jesus Racing Team still has to foot the bill to fix their car, with early estimates saying it could cost in excess of $30,000.
Jesus Racing had hoped to run the car at Oran Park in December.
Driver Andrew Fisher is understandably disappointed by the crash.
"We were going so well, having placed 16th in first-ever Supercar race. It's just a real shame. We really wanted to be a part of the Grand Finale of V8 Supercars at the historic Oran Park track," says Andrew, "It is really important for our campaign next year.
"Oran Park is our home track and we have an enormous supporter base in Sydney, but if we don't raise additional funds then the money we had for that round will be spent on repairs.
Andrew says they're now working hard to secure additional sponsors and supporters, to get the car back on the track so as to fly the Jesus. All about life flag at Oran Park.
