The fans of Canadian pop star Justin Bieber have proudly labelled themselves as "Beliebers." As flattering as it is to have legions of loyal fans, the thought actually overwhelms Bieber.
The Christian singer believes that people often let each other down, and the only one anybody can truly rely on is God. This is why when he was being interviewed by the Mirror UK, Bieber shared this message to his fans: "I would really suggest to people, 'Don't put your faith in me'. Because I'm gonna disappoint you every time."
"Yeah. It's scary," he added. "But I want them to know that I'm not going to be able to solve their problems. I'm not that higher power. I'll never be. I'm not perfect. I've made so many mistakes. I just want to get to a place where... I just want people to know humans aren't meant to be worshipped. We're just not. So when a human is being worshipped, this is dangerous. 'Cause it does nothing but give you pride."
Bieber hopes that his fans would understand his message. He said it's okay if they feel passionate towards him and his music, and it is also okay if they fantasise about him as well. However, the one thing that they should never do is to put their trust on him.
"But it's a finicky thing when you start putting your trust in me. And I've seen certain people just break down..." he trailed off.
Bieber admitted that he is a work in progress, and there are days when he feels depressed and upset. "But I know that I'm not where I used to be. So that really keeps me motivated. I'm not where I wanna be. That's kind of a cool little slogan I've been living by," he shared.
