Actress Kaley Cuoco is making a controversial statement—she doesn't think she's a feminist.
In an age where the term has received contentious interpretations, the Big Bang Theory star asserts that she doesn't count herself as one and insists that she loves to cook and "serve" her husband.
Cuoco, who married Ryan Sweeting earlier this year, recognises the advances that women have made through the years, particularly how women's movements have paved the way for women around the world, particularly for those in her industry. In fact, she understands how their work and beliefs make it possible for her to achieve the success she has met professionally; but it doesn't necessarily equate to her being a feminist.
In a recent interview, she shares:
"It's not really something I think about. Things are different now, and I know a lot of the work that paved the way for women happened before I was around.
"I was never that feminist girl demanding equality, but maybe that's because I've never really faced inequality."
The 29 year old actress chalks up her attentiveness to her husband is largely because of how aggressive she has to be when it comes to her career. She candidly shares how she loves cooking for him as it makes her feel like a housewife.
"I know it sounds old-fashioned, but I like the idea of women taking care of their men. I'm so in control of my work that I like coming home and serving him. My mom was like that, so I think it kind of rubbed off."
The happy couple are set to celebrate their first anniversary on Wednesday.
