All three athletes were the cream of the crop to come out of a star studded 2003 NBA Draft. Whilst all three went their separate ways, they became instant franchise building players for their respective teams. Bosh played for the Toronto Raptors, Dwayne Wade for the Miami Heat and Lebron James for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Minutes after the trio officially joined the market as fully fledged free agents, the scramble for signatures began . Coach's managers and CEO's were joined by rock stars and Hollywood actor's trying their best to convince players to join their club.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent on presentations to players and their agents to gain an advantage in trying to woo players to their franchise. What they didn't know was that these players had already seemingly decided to join together in the southern U.S state of Florida at the Miami Heat. Although they will play for less money due to salary cap restrictions in placing three franchise players in the one market in will be slightly offset by income tax reductions available in the state of Florida.
When Lebron signed of as the last of the power trio the basketball world went into over drive placing huge pressure on the Miami Heat calling them a Dynasty before the first shot of their rejuvenated franchise has even taken place. Most of the pressure will be on Lebron James, the self proclaimed chosen one and king of the ring has promised much in his illustrious career. A player that is capable of things on the court that others presumed just weren't possible has been somewhat of an enigma by being able to recapture the essence in which basketball entertains the millions of followers around the world not seen since the emergence of Michael Jordan in 1987.
Unfortunately the difference so far between Lebron James and Michael Jordan is the way Lebron has failed time and time again when it gets down to the business end of the season. Whilst Hall of Famer Michael Jordan always produced his highlight reel moments during the NBA final series. Lebron has trip over his own reputation continually playing below par in the tight games and moments during playoff series.
Although Lebron James might be as good as an athlete as Michael Jordan perhaps even better, the next five years will show the world of Lebron can compare himself to Michael as a true ball player who can get the job done in the big moments. If he can perhaps Miami will get that dynasty after all, if not well what's three hundred million dollars worth anyway?
