A study has found that there are more women 'Pokemon Go' players than men. Almost 63% of users in the U.S. are female and the average user age is 25-year-old. While on the other hand, there are only 37% of the male players.
The study by mobile application data service 'SurveyMonkey Intelligence' also revealed that the game is popular among white females, specifically those with a college degree who make approximately $90,000 annually.
Pokemon Go developer, Niantic Labs, did not validate or reject the statistics, though CEO John Hanke said, "He would be amazed if the surfaced data is true". In an interview with Forbes, Hanke noted that his company does not track such type of information on its gamers or users of the game.
"The company does not ask for the gender of their users, so it would have to come to a third party that is correlating it with some other type of research," the CEO said.
"I would love to find out if the data were factual," he added.
Such demographic data has been associated with mobile games like King.com's Candy Crush Saga, which also supposedly have more female players.
SurveyMonkey Intelligence's mobile product manager Robbie Allan explained that the results were derived from the company's panel of more than a million Android and iOS users in the US SurveyMonkey, which makes estimates based on the usage data it receives from those users' mobile gadgets.
