'Castle' actor, Nathan Fillion is staying close to the ABC family with his latest gig. Fillion just booked a multi-episode arc on Season 8 of Modern Family.
At the Television Critics Association press tour, Executive Producer of Modern Family, Steve Levitan, revealed that Fillion will play Rainer Shine "a local weatherman who gets involved with the Dunphys."
In an interview with TVLine, Fillion shared that after the cancelation of Castle, this was the first summer in a long while where he didn't have to report to work on the first Monday after the San Diego Comic-Con.
His previous TV-comedy work includes 'Drunk History', 'Community' and 'Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place'.
The actor is all set to appear in "Yamasong: March of the Hollows" and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2."
Meanwhile, 'Modern Family' has also signed Martin Short to guest star in Season 8. The comedian is schedule to appear in the second episode.
ABC has revealed that Modern Family's eighth series will see the family members reuniting at home for Father's Day. The new season will also find Phil enjoying his new hobbies, while Cam and Mitch will find themselves dealing with maturing Lily.
The series stars Julie Bowen, Sofía Vergara, Ty Burrell, and Ed O'Neil.
'Modern Family' Season 8 premieres on September 21 on ABC.
