On the Friday, the three students, Scotty Daniels, a third year theological student, Rhi Fisher and Disney Tom Walton both first year bible college students, spent time with Mark and Delma Tronson the Well-Being Australia chairman and cricket chaplain 'reviewing ministry' to the community.
The three students spent the first part of the morning looking at how a portfolio ministry functions, that is, there are a number of different ministry activities, each of which is not large enough to demand full time attention.
Well-Being Australia has numerous portfolio ministries which include:
Athlete Respite (AIS athletes and coaches)
Press Service International (Media)
Australian Missionary News IPTV (television interviews on the internet)
Country Town Tours (regional Australia missions)
Around the Tables (Mission leaders meetings)
Footplate Padre (Railway Ministry)
Cricket Ministry (Life After Cricket)
Art Ministry, Mentoring, Tourism Ministry R & D and others ….
The three Morling College students then met with the CEO of the South Tweed Sports Club Mr Gordon Rhodes who gave them a seminar on how the community can tap into the resources of the club industry as legislated by the State of NSW along with specific support by club management on projects.
Scotty Daniels, Rhi Fisher and Disney Tom Walton then viewed Tronson du Coudray – the missionary painter – art exhibition at the Horizons Gallery located within the South Tweed Sports Club.
Mark Tronson provided a detailed philosophical explanation on each of the paintings in order for the students to experience their own reflections.
Having been excited by the nature of the Well-Being Australia Art Ministry, they excitedly received an art work to display in their homes or office so as to initiate their own art ministry, illustrating the nature of their faith in Jesus Christ with their chosen art work.
Over the six week period of the art exhibition at Horizons Gallery, Well-Being Australia through its supporter network raised the funds for the three art works.
The three art works were
'The Lounge' - (Disney Tom Walton),
'Coolangatta Rock Wall' - (Rhi Fisher) and
'We Won - (Scotty Daniels).
