More Muslims seek protection and safety in Central African Republic (CAR), in the middle of attacks by Christian and animist anti-balaka militia, which began in late 2013 and continues until today.
According to the report by Human Rights Watch, about 1,750 Muslims, most of which come from Peuhl herders, are 'desperate' to flee the country, but attacks have kept them trapped in enclaves for months.
Meanwhile, the UN peacekeeping force, called MINUSCA, are reportedly authorized only to keep the Muslims from leaving the country, and not to help them find safe shelter.
In ther report, the CAR government do not want any of its ethnic groups and other citizens to 'escape' the country because the government may be seen as 'assisting ethnic cleansing'.
"We cannot accept that the Peuhl are evacuated. This is a political crisis and we need them to stay ... so we can begin reconciliation with them", said Pirette Benguele, an administrative official of Yaloke.
However, the conditions in the Yaloke enclave only made things worse for the Muslims. In the report, about 42 members of the Peuhl, most of which were children, have died due to malnutrition and diseases.
Aside from Yaloke, there are other enclaves guarded by UN peacekeepers, which are less life threatening, though the Muslims there still seek to find a safer place to live in.
