Musical drama television series 'Nashville' is all set to return with a fifth season, much to the fans bliss. Academy Award winner Callie Khouri, the creator of the show confirmed the premiere episode for the show's upcoming Season 5 at new homes, Hulu and CMT, in December 2016.
According to reports, at the Grand Ole Opry on Friday night, Khouri broke the news. According to TVLine, the fifth season will have 22 episodes in total. Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick, the new showrunners are already racing to create new plots for the upcoming season.
Season 4 of the series concluded on May 25, 2016 with the show shockingly cancelled by ABC despite high viewership and success. But what came as a relief to the fans when Callie made the announcement of the renewal. Though, the date is still termed to be unofficial.
Nashville is a famous series which tells the story of a legendary musician's tactics to pull down her young replacement with several twists and turns. The fourth season fetched 4 million views in the US.
Since the date is now partially fixed, fans will be looking forward to the casting of the show. Lead actresses, Connie Britton (Rayna James) and Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes) would reportedly return in their respective roles. Other cast members includes Charles Esten (Deacon), Sam Palladio (Gunnar), Jonathan Jackson (Avery), Clare Bowen (Scarlett), Lennon Stella (Maddie), Maisy Stella (Daphne), and Chris Carmack (Will).
But rumors suggest that Aubrey Peeples and Will Chase will not be seen this season.
